Isabelle Delcourt is a French self taught photographer based in Singapore for the past 12 years. Her work will be displayed as part of “The Photographers’ stories” a first-of-its-kind series of exhibitions presenting the work of 24 talented local photographers. This series of exhibitions showcase a collection of images from photographers which tells of stories from their wild imagination, stories from the limits of the skies to the depth of the MRT, some stories with muddy light mixed with clean waters, others with stories from their families, and yet some stories off the top of their heads, nevertheless, they are all stories told between the lines.

The virtuoso haute couture designer Christian Lacroix, who is known for defining the look of the 1980s with its bright colours and extravagant embellishments, presents his splendid costume design work of 20 years for the ballet, theatre and opera in this exclusive exhibition.
In Asia for the very first time, 80 spectacular costumes and 60 sketches from the collection of the Centre National du Costume de Scène (National Costume Centre, Moulins, France) and from Lacroix himself, will take stage at the National Museum of Singapore from March to June 2009.
Lacroix's inspiration for productions such as Carmen, Gaîte Parisienne, Othello, Cosi Fan Tutte and Phedre are eclectic, drawing from a wide variety of sources, and are at once historical and yet modern. A knowledgeable and mischievous storyteller, the splendid costumes tells of tales of love and hate, and the dramas of comedy and tragedies.

The Fox and the Child centres on a young girl and her magical, life-changing encounter with a fox. The film combines nature documentary footage with a fictionalised story. Director Luc (“March of the Penguins”) Jacquet said he was inspired to write the story based on his own first–time encounter with a fox as a 10–year–old, along with a similar episode featured in Antoine de Saint–Exupéry‘s classic children‘s book The Little Prince.
The little girl uses what she has learned from reading many books about foxes to find and follow one particular animal who leads her on an unexpected adventure. The girl later tries to find the fox, in order to befriend it, trudging through deep snow which leads her to have an accident. The fox meanwhile has her own dangers ahead but by the summertime the two very different red–headed creatures become friends.

10-year-old Tommy lives with his mother Betty on an isolated farm deep in the Canadian countryside. Tommy has never known his father, and Betty, who seems to have ended up on the farm like a woman on the run, vainly searches online for a companion. She’s a sad, silent woman, permanently shadowed by an aura of melancholy. Tommy hates seeing his mother so unhappy. One day, a travelling circus arrives at the nearby village, where they plan to put up their big top. But permission is refused and it looks like they will be forced to move on. Then Tommy has a brainwave. What better than a circus to create an atmosphere of celebration, of joy? He manages to convince a reluctant Betty to offer their farm as an alternative venue, and the performers duly move into the huge field opposite the house.

March of the Penguins is a French nature documentary film which won the 2006 Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature.. It was directed and co-written by Luc Jacquet, and co-produced by Bonne Pioche and the National Geographic Society.
The film depicts the yearly journey of the emperor penguins of Antarctica. In autumn, all the penguins of breeding age (five years old and over) leave the ocean, their normal habitat, to walk inland to their ancestral breeding grounds. There, the penguins participate in a courtship that, if successful, results in the hatching of a chick. For the chick to survive, both parents must make multiple arduous journeys between the ocean and the breeding grounds over the ensuing months.
It took one year for the two isolated cinematographers Laurent Chalet and Jérôme Maison to shoot the movie, which was filmed around the French scientific base of Dumont d’Urville in Adélie Land.

Based in Israel, the United States and France, Gitai has produced an extraordinary, wide ranging, and deeply personal body of work. For more than twenty years, he has brought complex images of Israeli life and the Jewish Diaspora to the screen. Employing both documentary and fictional styles, Gitai uses the camera to reveal the contradictions and ambivalences of history and challenges us to scrutinize these histories anew. Following this experience, he began using his camera as a means of recording and questioning the historical and political events around him. Both his documentaries and his dramatic films are brutally honest in their presentation of political conflict, personal plight, and the search for meaning.

Bruges, the most well-preserved medieval city in the whole of Belgium, is a welcoming destination for travellers from all over the world. But for hit men Ray (Colin Farrell) & Ken (Brendan Gleeson), it could be their final destination; a difficult job has resulted in the pair being ordered right before Christmas by their London boss Harry (two-time Academy Award nominee Ralph Fiennes) to go and cool their heels in the storybook Flemish city for a couple of weeks. Very much out of place amidst the gothic architecture, the two hit men fill their days living the lives of tourists. But the longer they stay waiting for Harry’s call, Ken and Ray’s vacation becomes a life-and-death struggle of darkly comic proportions and surprisingly emotional consequences.

Despite the fact he is a middle-aged man, Gianni lives in an old house in the centre of Rome with his mother, a woman of faded nobility who tyrannizes him and leaves him only enough free time to go to the tavern. On the eve of the Feast of the Assumption holiday (Ferragosto), the apartment block manager, aware of Gianni’s enforced “captivity”, suggests that he looks after his own mother for a couple of days, in return for the waiver of all the unpaid utility bills. When he turns up at his house accompanied also by his old aunt, Gianni feels rather ill. He therefore pays a visit to his doctor friend for a check-up, but even the latter leaves his old mother in Gianni’s care for the Feast of the Assumption.
