Van Gogh Alive – The Exhibition
Australia & France

The ArtScience Museum at Marina Bay Sands is proud to host the world premiere of Van Gogh Alive – the Exhibition, bringing to life the work of Vincent Van Gogh in a unique fusion of art and audio-visual technology.

The dynamic display immerses visitors in Van Gogh's work as a production of movement and light unfolds across the inside of a distinctively designed gallery interior. Rather than merely observing static pieces of art, visitors are encouraged to explore the space and discover new viewing angles and ever-changing perspectives of this giant moving canvas.

Regards Croisés: a selection of Asian Contempary Art

France, China, India, Korea

Art Plural Gallery is pleased to present Regards Croisés: a selection of Asian Contemporary Art, its second exhibition following the success of Avant Premiere.

Regards Croisés, which literally means 'a cross-perspective of a selection of Asian Contemporary Art,' features ten artists from China, India and Korea, experimenting in a range of mediums including sculptures, paintings, drawings, photography and mixed-media installation.

This show is the ideal occasion to introduce the work of French artist, Fabienne Verdier, who experimented with traditional ink paintings and learnt from the most outstanding masters in China for more than ten years.

Contrary to the phenomenon of Asian artists who sought inspiration from the West, Fabienne Verdiere looked to the East to strengthen her oeuvre.  At the crossroads between the Western and Eastern cultures, Fabienne Verdiere's work embodies the depth and spirituality of her intense life experience.

2nd Edition of Polish Photography Competition 2011
(Photography Competition)

We are calling for entries for the photography competition to celebrate the 1st Polish EU Presidency.  The objective is for the photographers to creatively illustrate a scene that incorporates the European and/or Polish presence in the rich culture of Singapore.  The beauty of Singapore lies within its cosmopolitan character and inherent cultural diversity, including European influences.  The strongest cultural ties to Poland in Singpaore are through Poland's most distinguished luminaries.  A statue of the famous composer, Fryderyk Chopin is an attraction in Singapore's Botanic Garden.  Other polish icons include, a statue of Pope John Paul II that stands in the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd and a monument of Joseph Conrad Korzeniowski, a distinguished novelist, which can be found outside of the Fullerton Hotel.  We invite you, your family, friends, colleagues to join the competition and stand a change to win prizes and have your photograph exhibited.

Dreams & Reality: Masterpieces of Painting, Drawing & Photography from the Musée d'Orsay, Paris

From the collection of the world renowned Musée d'Orsay, over 140 Salon, Realists, Impressionists and Post-Impressionists paintings, photographs and drawings from the mid-19th century to the early 20th century will specially tour to Singapore this year.

Titled Dreams & Reality – Masterpieces of Painting, Drawing & Photography from the Musée d'Orsay, Paris, the exhibition explores the reaction of man towards modernity at the turn of the century from 1848 to 1912.

The changing social and industrial landscapes of Paris in early modernity forced artists and photographers to rethink their approach to the visual world around them. Their varied responses generated new ways of depicting reality and a proliferation of styles.

Highlights of the exhibition include Paul Cezanne's The Card Players, Vincent van Gogh's Starry Night and Alexandre Cabanel's The Birth of Venus. Many other key works by forerunners of modern art such as Gustave Courbet, Edgar Degas, Jean-Francois Millet as well as female Impressionists Berthe Morisot, Marie Braquemond and Eva Gonzales will also be showcased. A portrait of Georges Clemenceau by Edouard Manet will travel exclusively to Singapore.

Chopin for Five Grand Pianos

The fact that Chopin is a great composer, like the fact that his music can be interpreted in 1000 ways is no longer an object of discussion today.  'Jaskułke-Chopin for Five Grand Pianos' is an innovative interpretation of Chopin's music and the unusual and unexpected medium - five pianos - makes it very original and special.  Sławek Jaskułke in this highly original and sophisticated form initiates a class of 2 worlds - classics and jazz and is joined by outstanding young Polish pianists: Katarzyna Borek (classic) and 3 jazz pianists: Joanna Duda, Piotr Wyleżoł and Paweł Kaczmarczyk.  This form of musical collage creates an interactive form of a dialogue between the classic world and its jazz interpretations.  The official premier took place during the World Expo in Shanghai in 2010.

Venue: Lee Foundation Theatre, Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Campus 3, 151 Bencoolen Street
